So Proud of My Parents

Today Charles and I went to Fort Pierce to watch my parents receive the Distinguished Alumni award from Indian River State College. This is a very prestigious award and it was the first time a couple has ever won this award. I was so proud watching mom and dad get this and to hear all of their accomplishments. They both gave wonderful speeches to an audience that was over 300 people! Mom and Dad met each other when it was Indian River Community College in the early 70's and they talked about how their education they received there really set the foundation for a successful future. It was a beautiful award ceremony followed by a delicious lunch and a tour of the campus by the president. I did not realize how beautiful the campus is and how much it has to offer students. It was a great day and it is nice to see your parents recognized for all that they do for the community.

Birth Day!

Yes it is official that I will be induced Wednesday April 1st. We plan on getting to the hospital around 7am and our doctor said hopefully we will have a baby by 5 or 6 that evening. There is about 4 hours of "prep" before they break my water around noon. Once my water is broken that is when actual labor should begin. Since I am already 4 centimeters and 80% effaced he thinks it should go rather quickly (I appreciate optimism but I am not banking on it)...he would like to be home in time for dinner! I hope it plays out that way though. :) I figure if I prepare for a 12 hour labor and Addison comes in 6 then I will be a happy camper!!!! We cannot even begin to describe our excitement about meeting our baby girl. We are also looking forward to seeing all our family members and friends who are making the trip down...we really appreciate all your love and support during this amazing time in our lives. Oh and NO APRIL FOOLs JOKES ALLOWED!!! I made my doctor promise. :)

April Fools

Addy will be here Wednesday... I'll keep you updated.

Dr. Apt Update

No Addison yet but we went to the doctor today and I am now 4 centimeters dilated and still 80% effaced! Our doctor does not understand why she is not coming, he said she must be hanging on by a string! He also reiterated how low I was carrying....I am FULLY aware of that! I knew our doctor was planning time off in April and I found out today he will be off the week of April 6th (I really really really want him to be the one to deliver Addison). I asked him at what point would he induce me since he has been telling me I should be going into labor for the last month AND no labor yet! To my relief he said that if I have not gone into labor by my Monday morning apt (March 30th 9:30) he will schedule for me to be induced Wed. We all know I am not excited about an April Fool's Day birthday but at this point beggars cannot be choosers. I have to look at the bright side of things...her birthstone will be the diamond which just means she can have mine while I get upgrades!!! Just kidding...I have to make myself feel better about the whole April Fools Day thing, Charles of course thinks it would be great. Let's just hope that she comes on her own before then, I know I would appreciate it and we are all dying to meet her. :)

Did I mention Friday was my LAST day of work for FOUR MONTHS!!!! WOHOOO!!!!!

Dr.'s Apt

I went to the doctor on Wednesday and I am now 3 centimeter's dilated and a little over 80% effaced. Needless to say I made it past my 38th week mark and am now in the 39th week and still NO ADDISON! She is having fun moving around in my belly and making me very uncomfortable...I can't blame her for not wanting to come out yet. The doctor did not indicate when he thought I would go into labor...I am pretty confident only God knows that. Charlotte and I were wondering what happens if I get to be like 5 or 6 centimters and 100% effaced with no contractions so I asked the Dr if that is even possible. Yes it is possible. He basically said I would carry until 40 weeks and then when I am "done" being pregnant he will induce once I pass the 40 week mark. Isn't that exciting! Hopefully Addison will decide to come out and meet us all on her own....SOON!

Still No Addy

Still no Addison as of today. Megan has a Dr appointment in about an hour and I am sure we will get a better picture of when Addy is due. As of last Tuesday the Dr said he did not expect Megan to go past her 38th week. Well that is this Friday so.......

We are all ready for her to come. Now we just wait. They say that walking helps induce labor. Because Im such a good husband, I have been trying to help Megan go into labor as much as I can. "Honey, will you get my computer"? "Honey, will you get me something to drink"? "Honey, get in the kitchen and make me some dinner"!

What a great husband I am! To be continued....

No Baby Yet!!

No baby Yet!!

I am going to add to this post...I went to the Dr. on Tuesday instead of Wed b/c I was having a lot of burning and having trouble walking. Come to find out Addison's head is only about 2 inches from coming out (hence the pain) and I am now 70% effaced and still a little over 2 centimeters dilated. The Dr. said it is only a matter of time....YOU THINK!? And for those people out there that firmly believe a full moon brings on labor....HOGWASH! So here we are waiting patiently for our little girl, on the bright side of things this will be my last week at work for at least 4 months!!! Hello baby and summer vacation....

Great Weekend!

Even though I did NOT go into labor we had a wonderful weekend. Guy & Reva flew in Friday afternoon and we spent all Friday night and all day Saturday with them. It was great having some quality time with them and they got to see the nursery completed. Charles and Guy installed our car seat bases in both vehicles so now I can stop worrying about how Addison will make it home from the hospital safely. We went to the local Farmer's Market Sat morning and we had a nice time. Reva and I managed to insult two of the workers in the craft part of the market but other than that it was a nice time!
My parents surprised us with a new glider chair for the nursery. That was a huge surprise and relief! I have been searching the Internet for weeks and weeks trying to find one I liked. Mom and Dad found one and when Charles and I got back from Church Saturday evening it was all set up in the nursery! Now I can just sit in Addison's nursery and imagine how amazing life will be once she is in it.
This morning Charles and I got up and went and walked on the beach and enjoyed the beautiful weather. I think I might have the best husband in the world! :) There is not much else for us to do for prepare for Addison. All the laundry is done, her nursery is complete (it is pretty perfect if I might say so myself), hospital bag is packed, diaper bag is packed, Charles put all the swings and baby toys together so everything is ready for her arrival...whenever that might be. I hear there is a full moon Wed morning.....next Dr apt is Wednesday at 4pm....stay tuned!

Baby Update

I dont know what my wife is doing all the time that she cant update her blog... she acts like she's carrying a baby or something and is SO busy! gosh!

Quick update: Megan is now 2cm dilated and 50% effaced. Dr. says Addy can come whenever she wants now. Megan just ended her 36th week today so it seems all is well. Baby measures a good weight and ultrasound looked good. (how could it not.... its MY child!)

Im just waiting for her to roll me over, wake me up, and tell me that its time to GO! (Not on a work night PLEASE honey)! We have this little egg looking timer that is supposed to time the contractions. Guess I better figure out how to use it.

Anyway... Hopefully we'll have a beautiful baby girl VERY soon! I'll keep you posted (im the dependable one in the relationship)!
