Happy 1 Month Birthday!

Addison is a month old today. We started the day off going to the dr. Addy weighed 7 pounds 10 ounces and was 21 inches long! She grew 1 inch in two weeks. She is doing great and the dr made me feel better about Addison's lack of sleeping in the cradle. Our Dr gave me a miracle blanket to try and said it is OK to have her sleep on my chest if that is the only way to get sleep. She is still too young to really do anything else!
We did have an exciting development today, Addison fell asleep for the first time in her swing (for a whole 10 minutes) . I know cousin Caleb loved his swing but Addison has not embraced it yet, we are hoping she will soon!

My First Bath!

We finally did it! Really we just finally read the directions on how to use our fancy bath spa! After three weeks of sponge baths Addison finally got submerged in water. She LOVED it! She did not cry at all and it really relaxed her for bedtime! We are looking forward to bathtime tonight!

3 Weeks old!

Today Addy is 3 weeks old! Where does the time go?
Addison is finally starting to get use to her carseat. She does not scream the entire time she is in it anymore, usually 5 or 10 minutes and then she is done (usually passes out!). Daddy and I took her to the park Sunday and walked and she did great. I was able to run 3 errands (if you count Starbucks as one) today and she only cried for about 5 minutes of our hour outing. Everyday brings new and exciting developments. She is starting to "talk" to herself more and it is the sweetest sound! She has always cooed while nursing but now when she has her happy time in her swing or bouncy chair she will just "talk" away. We have to get it on video.
A not so fun development is her lack of sleeping or wanting to sleep in her cradle. When we lay her down she will roll around so much that she wakes herself up and she prefers to be held. This leads to a very long night for mom and baby. Everything I read says it is just a phase and by 6 weeks she should be over it and sleeping better and longer. Let's hope it does not take the full 3 weeks to get over this stage.

Aunt Charlotte & Uncle Adam

This weekend Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Adam came and visited Addy! Charlotte helped Megan on Saturday and allowed Adam and I to hit the golf course. It was a windy day but low and behold I shot my best round ever. (This isn't particularly hard at this point in my pursuit of the Green Jacket). Uncle Adam spent the whole day in the water... throwing clubs and making up words I have never heard before.

Addison seems to be more active these days. I think she is getting to the point where she does not like her cradle anymore. She doesn't seem to want to sleep in it. I kind of feel that she still needs the comfort of being held, and I think eventually she will settle down.

My wife is wonderful. She takes care of Addy at night when my patience are ZERO. I am so blessed to have her as a wife and a wonderful daughter!

I AM A GROWING GIRL!!!!

We went to the doctor today for Addison's 2 week check up and we are pleased to say she is now 6 pounds 12 ounces (she gained a pound in ten days!) and she is now 20 inches long! She was 18.75 inches long at birth so that is 1.25 inces in TWO WEEKS!!!! We are so pleased she is doing so well. Hopefully soon she can start wearing all the adorable clothes people have given her. I am about sick of washing the same 5 outfits every 3 days! It is hard because she is too long for preemie outfits but newborn outfits swallow her. Only a few more weeks...although we hate to rush it because she will only be this small once! She is just darling!

A Fabulous Easter Weekend!

What a great weekend to end a great week. Clare stayed with me Monday through Thursday and then was back for Easter weekend. Addy loved having her Aunt Clare here all week. Saturday we had our friend's twins 2nd birthday party at the beach so we took Addy there for about 45 minutes. She was an angel and just slept in her carseat. Everyone was so excited to see her! Then we went to Grandma & Grandpa's for Easter Sunday to be with all the family. The original Easter dress mommy bought Addison did not fit since she is such a tiny little peanut so she wore the cute colorful outfit Mrs. Sammons brought her in the hospital. My cousins Chris , Alexa and their son Ryan were down from Charlotte, NC and my aunts came in town too from Melbourne and Fort Lauderdale. It was such a nice day and since everyone had lots of Easter Goodies Addison felt the need to nurse ALL day so that she did not feel left out! Addison is starting to go every 2 and a half to 3 hours instead of every 1 to 2 hours in between feedings! It is exciting because that means more time for mommy to get sleep!

Easter Sunday

Yesterday was a wonderful Easter Sunday. We had a great meal and company. The weather was nice.I liked beating my father-in-law at horseshoes. I drank a HUGE Red Bull and a liter of Mountain Dew. Yum.

I'll make my wife write more tomorrow.

Grandma Visits!!!

Grandma Reva came to visit this week. She will leave on Friday. Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Shmadam are coming on Friday for the weekend. I'll make my wife post pictures tomorrow.

Addy is great. She sleeps at night. Did you expect anything less from my daughter? :)

Weight Gain!

We survived the first week! It has been great having Addy home and adjusting to parenthood. I can't lie, I am starting to get a little tired but all I do is look at her and I know lack of sleep is totally worth it! Aunt Clare has been here this week helping me and it has been wonderful! She has been a big help and made us a delicious meal Thursday night. We took Addison to get weighed again today (she had to go Monday and then again today) since she had dropped to 5 pounds 12 ounces after birth and we are happy to say she has gained back all that she lost and was six pounds 8 ounces this morning! There is no doubt she is getting enough to eat. 12 ounces in 7 days is pretty impressive. Now you know why I am so tired. We are enjoying every minute with miss Addison and can't wait for everyone to meet her. She is perfect and melts our hearts!

The Greatest Gift

Hello Everyone! You all know Charles and I welcomed Addison Diane into the world Tuesday march 31st at 10:25 pm. She is the most precious gift God has ever blessed us with and I cannot even begin to explain how much we love her.

I woke up Tuesday morning at 5:50am freaking out about everything I needed to get done that day before I was to be induced Wednesday. I had been having some lower back pain for a few days and Tuesday it was a little stronger but I did not think anything of it. Instead I got out of bed and cleaned out both vehicles (can't have my baby coming home in a dirty car), then I cleaned the house (AGAIN) and did a load of laundry. I went and had breakfast with my girlfriends Jessica and Terra. After that I was on a mission to get everything for Charles for Easter since I knew I wouldn't be able to go shopping next week. I ran a bunch of errands and finally got home around 3 o'clock. My back was killing me and I just decided I could not do anything but lay on the couch and be grumpy! Charles was expected to be home around 5:30. Once he got home I looked up signs of back labor...I was not convinced I was in labor since I was not having any pain in my abdomen. I took a hot shower and that helped but when I got out the pain in my back was extremely intense. Charles tried to help me but I really did not want to be touched. I called the Dr and asked about it and he said to go ahead and come in the hospital to be checked. I did not want to call everyone and tell them I was going to the hospital b/c I was not convinced I was in labor...I was in pain but didn't know if it was labor pain. We got to the hospital around 7:30pm, they took us to Labor and Delivery and hooked me up to monitor my contractions around 8:15..they were a MINUTE APART and lasting about 60-90 seconds and I was 6 centimeters. Guess I was in labor!!! At 8:30 my water broke. Let me just tell you that I am so happy I was at the hospital and not at my house when that happened. People who say it trickles out...LIARS! The doctor on call was not my OB but his partner. He came in and assessed me and Addison's heart rate was very high. It has been for the last 9 months consistently around 130 and Tues night it was at 189. He gave me some drugs to reduce my contractions to see if she would respond to that and she did not. Her heart rate showed that she was in dis stress so the Dr. decided he needed to do a C-Section to get her out safely. Charles was absolutely amazing in the Operating Room. He actually watched the Dr take Addison out of my belly and he also cut the umbilical cord! I was so proud of him. Hearing Addison cry for the first time was music to my ears. I could not see anything since they had drapes all around me but hearing her cry told me everything was OK! Charles took Addy to the nursery to clean her up while the sewed me back up. I had to be in the recovery room for an hour by myself so I did not actually get to see Addy for about 2 hours. My parents, Guy & Reva and my sister were all there to welcome Addison into the world. Everyone else came into town the following day. This has been such a great experience and we are loving every minute of it!
